16 July 2019 News

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ekaterina Zaharieva received the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Poland to Bulgaria Maciej Szymanski.

“I would like to congratulate Poland for the great work during the chairmanship of the Berlin Process,” emphasized our first diplomat at the meeting. She added that now is a good time for an exchange of experience between the two countries in this area, and that a visit by a Bulgarian team to Poland has already been agreed.

The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs emphasized the fact that Poland always sends extremely experienced diplomats to Bulgaria: “In my opinion, this is indicative of the importance that Poland attaches to our country.”

Minister Zaharieva highlighted the excellent relations between the two countries. “Strong economic ties, investments and tourism are the main prerequisites for the friendship between the two countries and no politician can destroy them,” emphasized the Deputy Prime Minister. Minister Zaharieva and Ambassador Szymanski united around the idea that Bulgaria and Poland should continue active work in these areas, in order to build on the existing foundation.

Maciej Szymanski has been working in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Poland since 1992. He headed the missions of the Republic of Poland in Ljubljana, Belgrade and Zagreb. From February 2018 until his appointment to his current position, he was the Director General of the Diplomatic Service.

Ambassador Szymanski presented his credentials on June 20, 2019
