On September 22, 2022, an exhibition of 42 paintings by famous Bulgarian artists created during the Balkan Wars and World War I opened at the Royal Łazienki Museum in Warsaw. The exhibition, which coincides with the 110th anniversary of the outbreak of the First Balkan War and was opened on Bulgaria’s Independence Day, is entitled “I Had No Weapons. I Had a Backpack and a Tripod” and will remain at the prestigious Warsaw museum until November 6, 2022.

The exhibition is jointly organized by the National Museum of Military History and the Bulgarian Cultural Institute in Warsaw, under the honorary patronage of the Ambassador of the Republic of Bulgaria to the Republic of Poland.

The opening ceremony organized by the Embassy in Warsaw was attended by nearly 70 people - representatives of the presidential administration, the ministries of foreign affairs, defense and culture of the Republic of Poland, representatives of the Polish General Staff, ambassadors and members of the diplomatic corps accredited in Warsaw, journalists, members of the local Bulgarian community, friends of Bulgaria, etc.

In her speech at the opening of the exhibition, H.E. Margarita Ganeva, Ambassador of the Republic of Bulgaria to the Republic of Poland, emphasized the important significance of the Independence Day celebrated on September 22 and drew a parallel between this Bulgarian holiday and the national holiday of Poland - Independence Day, celebrated on November 11. She also focused on the important historical significance of the declaration of independence of the Bulgarian state in 1908, when Bulgaria occupied a worthy place among the other European nations, as well as the eternal significance of the exhibited works created during the Balkan Wars and the First World War. Speeches were also made by the Deputy Director of the Royal Łazienki Museum, Dr. Antoni Krzysztof Sobczak, and Ms. Deyana Kostova, Director of International Affairs and Projects of the National Museum of Military History, who emphasized the historical and artistic aspects of the exhibition.
