Bulgaria and Poland celebrate 100 years of diplomatic relations

On behalf of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ekaterina Zaharieva, Yuri Sterk addressed the participants in an academic conference dedicated to celebrating the anniversary. The forum, which took place on December 6 and 7, is organized by the Bulgarian Embassy in Warsaw and Warsaw University under the patronage of Deputy Prime Minister Ekaterina Zaharieva and Poland's Foreign Minister Jacek Czaputowicz.

Piotr Wawrzyk, Deputy Foreign Minister of Poland and Bogusław Winid, Advisor to the President of Poland on foreign policy issues welcomed the participants in the conference.

The anniversary was celebrated by a reception organized by the Bulgarian Embassy in Warsaw.

During his visit to Poland on December 6, Deputy Minister Sterk held a working meeting with his colleague Szymon Szynkowski vel Sęk. They discussed issues in the field of bilateral relations and issues on the European agenda, including the Western Balkans, the Black Sea region, the Berlin process.

During his visit, Deputy Minister Sterk also spoke with representatives of Bulgarian studies in Poland and polish studies in Bulgaria. The informal meeting at the Warsaw University Library exchanged ideas for the development of bilateral exchanges in science, education and culture.

Yuri Sterk took part in the solemn opening of a memorial plaque at our Embassy in Poland, dedicated to Bulgarian officials, helping Polish citizens during the reprisals in the conditions of foreign occupation.
