On 23.05.2025, the Bulgarian Embassy in Beirut, together with members of the Bulgarian-Lebanese community in Lebanon, solemnly celebrated the Day of the Saint Brothers Cyril and Methodius, of the Bulgarian Alphabet, education and culture, and of Slavic literature.
An improvised exhibition with reproductions of the painter Yanko Yanev reminded of the beauties of the Bulgarian land, embodied by the artist's paintings displaying beautiful landscapes, with old Bulgarian houses from Shiroka Laka, Tryavna and Plovdiv, as well as with symbols of the Bulgarian ancestral and national-patriotic memory such as the Assenova Fortress and the medieval Bulgarian fortress on the Hill of Tsarevets in Veliko Tarnovo with the Patriarchal Church “Ascension of Christ”.
The Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria in the Lebanese Republic expresses its gratitude to the graduates of Bulgarian universities and representatives of the Association of Bulgarian Graduates in Bulgaria (ABGL) who participated in the event from all over Lebanon.
Inspired by the shared awareness of the significance of the work of the Saint Brothers Cyril and Methodius and united by the preserved memory of the Fest of the Letters – May 24, Bulgarians living in Lebanon and Lebanese graduates of Bulgarian higher education institutions, as well as Lebanese living and working in Bulgaria, sang together the deeply insightful verses of the Bulgarian Revivalist and Awakener Stoyan Mihaylovski, which appeared on the distant April 15, 1892 in the city of Russe and became the Anthem of the Saint Brothers Cyril and Methodius.
We thank wholeheartedly for yet another year being together to remember both the unique intellectual process - the miracle of the creation of the Bulgarian alphabet, and the state-creative genius of the rulers Boris, Simeon I and Simeon II and their successors, thanks to whom the foundations of independent Bulgarian literature, spirituality and culture were laid, the Bulgarian ancestral memory is guarded and preserved throughout the centuries, and Bulgaria withstood the challenges of the time and exists to this day.
