Ambassador Belev talks with the Rector of St. Joseph University

On May 11, 2022, at the invitation of Ambassador Boyan Belev from the leadership of the University of St. Joseph (USJ) in Beirut, Lebanon, a working lunch was held in his area to discuss issues of cooperation in education and culture between the Embassy of Republic of Bulgaria and the University. Hosts were Professor Salim Dakkash - Rector of the University, Christian Taoutel - Head of the Department of History and International Relations at the Faculty of Literature and Human Studies (FLHS), Carl Akiki - Head of the Department of French Literature at FLHS and Mirna Gannage - lecturer of cognitive psychology. On the Bulgarian side, the meeting was attended by Ambassador Boyan Belev, Ivaylo Hristov - Councilor and Alexandrina Gigova - First Secretary. It was organized in response to the visit of professors Akiki and Tautel to the Bulgarian diplomatic mission earlier this year. Bulgarian diplomats were invited to take more active part in the events of the Francophone countries and confirmed their desire to do so. The possibility of the Embassy to use the university campus in Beirut to hold an event to mark an important event for the country was discussed, and talks were launched to realize this on the occasion of May 24 this year. Ambassador Belev thanked for the invitation and praised the proposal to use the university campus on the occasion of the upcoming Bulgarian holiday.
