Lebanon, Beirut, Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria

The Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria in the Lebanese Republic sends you sincere wishes for happy holidays, a successful and full of health and good luck New Year

27 December 2020 News

For many years, the weeks of December have traditionally brought to Beirut the spirit of Christmas and the New Year with a festive and solemn mood. In 2020, however, the atmosphere in the Lebanese capital has been quite different. The country is experiencing a political, economic, financial and social crisis. An additional bitter taste has been brought by the corona virus pandemic and the tragic incident of the explosion at the port of Beirut in August. There are no buzzing markets, restaurants and cafes full of young people with smiling faces. To everyone’s surprise, however, in spite of the current challenges some Lebanese citizens do not lose their optimism and hope for a better future; they do not spare efforts to turn certain places in Beirut into beautiful public areas to the delight of everyone. And, of course, they focus on hopes for holiday spirit, peace, happiness and love. The measures to reduce the risk of COVID-19 infection have not prevented small and symbolic open-air bazaars to open and well known group musicians to perform their melodies. Cultural activities and human hope continue to live regardless of the hardships for all Lebanese people.

The Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria in the Lebanese Republic is joining those hoping and working for a better future and sends you sincere wishes for happy holidays, a successful and full of health and good luck New Year!
