The friendship and mutual respect between Bulgaria and Iran are the fundament for the deepening of the bilateral relations in all directions, and the Islamic republic regards friendly Bulgaria as a major partner in its cooperation with the EU. This is what transpired during President Rosen Plevneliev's meeting with Iran's President Dr. Hassan Rouhani, held on 21st of September 2016, within the framework of the 71st Session of the UN General Assembly held in New York.
