On 19 June 2019 a Friendship Group with Bulgaria was established in the Finnish Parliament (Eduskuta). The meeting was also attended by the ambassador of Bulgaria Martin Ivanov and Elka Doncheva, Consul.

The group has 29 members, including the newly-elected Defense Minister Antti Kaikkonen, the chairman of the Center Party parliamentary faction, chairpersons of parliamentary committees etc. The elected chairman of the Friendship Group is Mr. Mikko Savola and Antero Lukanen as vice-chairman. The Friendship Group plans to make an official visit to Bulgaria and to re-establish contact with the Friendship Group with Finland in the Bulgarian National Assembly.
