On 22 December 2025 the Consul General of Bulgaria Vladislav Spasov visited the Research Center for Chinese Modernization at Fudan Institute for Advanced Study in Social Sciences. 

The Consul General was received by the Director of the Research Center Prof. He Donghang, author of several books on issues related to Chinese modernization, including: “Theory and Practice of the Chinese-style Modernization” (2025), “China’s Path to Building a Modern State” (2021) and “Local Society, Governance and Economic Development” (2011). Prof. He Donghang presented to the Consul General the main historical stages of China’s modernization path since 1949, as well as one of the most vivid practical examples in this regard – the so-called “Jinjiang Experience” pertaining to the economic successes of Jinjiang, Quanzhou City in Fujian Province.

The other participants in the meeting included Prof. Lin Xi, assistant Dean of the Fudan Institute for Advanced Study in Social Sciences; Prof. Gu Yanfeng, a research fellow at the institute; and Prof. Su Sijin from the East China University of Science and Technology.

The two sides discussed opportunities for cooperation between Bulgarian research institutions and the Fudan Institute for Advanced Study in Social Sciences. They expressed interest in academic exchanges, joint conferences and publications.
