Visit of Consul General Vladislav Spasov to Nanjing

On 20-21 June 2024 the Consul General Vladislav Spasov visited Nanjing - the capital of Jiangsu province. He was received there by the Mayor of Nanjing Mr. Chen Zhichang. During the meeting both sides spoke highly of the commemoration in 2024 of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Bulgaria and China and discussed topics of mutual interest. 

In 2023 the GDP of Nanjing was RMB 1,742 trillion (approx. EUR 226 billion). It is among the 10 most economically developed Chinese cities; the 4th in the National Innovative Cities Innovation Capability Evaluation Report and the 6th in the Nature Index – Global Ranking of Research Cities in 2023.   

During the visit the Consul General Spasov participated in the 2024 Global Industrial Technology Innovation and Investment Promotion Conference. He also visited Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology (NUIST) and met the Vice-President responsible for international affairs Prof. (Ms.) Ma Yan. They discussed the opportunities for cooperation between Bulgarian higher education and research institutions and NUIST. Since 1993 the World Meteorological Organization Regional Training Centre Nanjing (WMO RTC Nanjing) has been located at NUIST.

The meeting was attended by the Bulgarian participants at a Seminar on the Development of New Generation of Artificial Intelligence organized by the NUIST (June 12-25, 2024), including Assoc. Prof. Dr. (Ms.) Mariana Todorova from the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences.
