Welcome to the website of the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria to the Federative Republic of Brazil.
This website is intended to provide you with up-to-date information about the activities of the Embassy, the latest developments in the bilateral relations between Bulgaria and Brazil, as well as the consular services the Embassy provides to Bulgarian and foreign citizens. Here you will also find information about the activities with the other countries to which the Embassy is accredited – Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, the Co-operative Republic of Guyana, Suriname, as well as Venezuela.
Bulgaria and Brazil established consular relations in 1922 and diplomatic relations in 1934. Following the restoration of diplomatic relations in 1961, bilateral cooperation has developed steadily, and since 1974 the two countries have maintained diplomatic relations at ambassadorial level.
Today, Bulgaria and Brazil enjoy a partnership with considerable potential for further development in areas such as trade and investment, high technologies, scientific research and innovation, defence industry, energy, agriculture, transport and infrastructure. One of the Embassy's key priorities is to promote economic cooperation and create new opportunities for partnerships between Bulgarian and Brazilian companies, research organisations and institutions.
We attach particular importance to promoting Bulgaria's rich historical, cultural and spiritual heritage. We firmly believe that cultural and educational exchanges, as well as people-to-people contacts, provide the strongest foundation for building lasting friendship between our nations.
The Bulgarian community in Brazil is concentrated primarily in the State of São Paulo, where a Bulgarian Sunday school is also active. Our compatriots represent a natural bridge between Bulgaria and Brazil, and the team of the Embassy will continue to work actively to protect their interests, provide high-quality consular services, and support their cultural, educational and community initiatives.
