On January 7, 2026, Ambassador Nikola Nikolov held a protocol meeting with Armenian Minister of Environment Hambardzum Matevosyan. Ambassador Nikolov expressed his satisfaction with the high level of bilateral cooperation between Armenia and Bulgaria and supported Armenia's efforts in the process of integration with the EU. He emphasized that there is great potential for cooperation between the two countries in the field of environmental protection, water resources, and biodiversity.
During the conversation, it was emphasized that the potential for deepening bilateral cooperation in the field of the environment and climate change is real, as these are areas with a clear cross-border dimension and direct significance for the sustainable development and security of our societies.
Ambassador Nikolov pointed out that Bulgaria sees potential for developing institutional cooperation and sharing experience with a view to implementing reforms to align with European policies and standards in the areas of climate change, waste management and the circular economy, biodiversity conservation, and other topics of interest to Armenia.
At the end of the meeting, both sides confirmed their readiness to continue effective dialogue and working cooperation with a view to advancing mutually beneficial programs and achieving practical results.
