Tsvetelin Rumenov Tsolov

Consul General

Tsvetelin Rumenov Tsolov is a career diplomat, employee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs since 2004. He holds a Master’s degree in Economics and Finance and is fluent in Spanish and English. During his more than twenty years of service at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he has held various positions both in Sofia and abroad:

  • Chief Specialist, Junior Expert and Senior Expert at the “State Protocol” Directorate, MFA;
  • Head of the Consular Section at the Consulate General in Valencia, Kingdom of Spain;
  • Diplomatic Officer at the “State Protocol” Directorate, MFA;
  • Political Section Diplomat and Consul at the Embassy in Madrid, Kingdom of Spain;
  • Consul General in Valencia, Kingdom of Spain;
  • Consul General in Barcelona, Kingdom of Spain;
  • Director of the “Crisis Centre”, MFA.

As of 2025 he has been designated as Consul General in Barcelona.

Tsvetelin Tsolov holds the following honorary distinctions and awards:

  • Awarded the title “Académico de Honor” (Honorary Lecturer) by the “International Academy of Science, Technology, Education and Humanitarian Sciences” (AICTEH) of the Kingdom of Spain, based in Valencia, for his special contribution to the development of the Bulgarian–Spanish relations in the fields of education and culture;
  • Member of the Executive Council of the Consular Corps accredited in Valencia;
  • In 2019 received the annual award for professionalism from the ROTARY Club Mediterráneo;
  • Served two consecutive terms as a member of the Executive Council of the Consular Corps accredited in Barcelona — the third largest in the world, with 98 accredited consular representatives;
  • Awarded the Honorary Sign of the Catalan Police (Mossos d’Esquadra);
  • Awarded Honorary Distinction from the Barcelona Cultural Institute Reial Cercle Artístic – Institut Barcelonès d’Art, for his significant contribution to the development of bilateral relations between Bulgaria and Spain in the field of culture;
  • Awarded the Honorary Plaque of the Consular Corps accredited in Barcelona.
