Official opening ceremony of the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Bulgaria in Krakow

On April 5th at Villa Decjusza Castle in Krakow, the official opening ceremony of the new Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Bulgaria was held with Honorary Consul Mr. Wieslaw Nowak and the Consulate - the city of Krakow and the Malopolska Voivodship.

The ceremony was attended by the Mayor of Krakow Jacek Majchrowski, Deputy Governor Zbigniew Stajez, senators and deputies, representatives of the local government, the Orthodox Church, businessmen, cultural figures, Bulgarian teachers, representatives of the consular corps, and many Bulgarians living in the city and its surroundings.

The Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs was represented by Ambassador Krzysztof Krajewski, Director of the Diplomatic Protocol Directorate and Ambassador of Poland to Bulgaria in the 2014-2018 period, as well as Anna Sochanska, Director of the European Policy Directorate.

Ambassador Yalnazov welcomed the guests and shared his satisfaction with the fact that Bulgaria opened its fifth honorary consulate in Poland, at such an important economic, academic and cultural center as Krakow, the old capital of Poland. The Ambassador read a greeting address to Wieslaw Nowak, addressed by Ekaterina Zaharieva, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs. The consular patent, issued by the Bulgarian government and the Bulgarian national flag traditionally used for this occasion, was handed over to the new honorary consul. In his name the ambassador gave the new honorary consulate an icon of St. St. Cyril and Methodius, with the wish of the holy apostles to be an inspiration for his future activity in promoting the Bulgarian presence and strengthening the bonds of friendship and cooperation between Bulgarians and Poles.

Ambassador Krajewski and Anna Sochanska on behalf of the Polish government jointly handed Wieslaw Nowak the consular exequatur, wishing him a successful job. Ambassador Krajewski has presented the special message on this occasion by Deputy Minister. Polish Prime Minister Beata Szydło.

Mayor Majchrowski pointed out that the new honorary consulate is the 34th consular office in the city.

During the subsequent cocktail guests were greeted with performances of the Polish folk ensemble "Iglika", performing Bulgarian folklore, with the director Katazina Wittek.
