The Directors of the Official News Agencies of Bulgaria and Pakistan signed a Memorandum of Cooperation

On January 21, 2026, during his visit to Pakistan, the Director General of the Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) Mr. Kiril Valchev signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with the Managing Director of Pakistan’s official news agency, the Associated Press of Pakistan (APP), Mr. Muhammad Asim Khichi.
The signing took place in the presence of the Federal Secretary of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting of Pakistan Mr. Ashfaq Khalil and the Ambassador of Bulgaria Ms. Irena Gancheva. Guests at the ceremony included representatives of the ministries of foreign affairs and information, journalists from APP and other leading Pakistani media outlets, as well as diplomats from the Bulgarian Embassy in Islamabad.
The Memorandum marks the beginning of closer cooperation between the two news agencies, including the regular exchange of information, journalistic experience, and best practices.
In their remarks during the signing ceremony, Bulgarian and Pakistani officials emphasized the importance of the cooperation between BTA and APP for fostering mutual awareness, understanding, and closer ties between the peoples of the two countries, as well as for strengthening and further developing the relations between Bulgaria and Pakistan in areas of mutual interest that correspond to the realities of the 21st century.
