The Bulgarian ambassador to Cuba participated in the planting of an "EU forest" in the Cuban province of Baracoa

On 16th of February 2024, the heads of diplomatic missions of EU member states in Havana planted trees in the canyon along the Yumuri River, Baracoa, Guantanamo Region. The initiative is part of the program of the official visit of the ambassadors of the EU member states to the Cuban provinces of Guantanamo, Baracoa and Santiago de Cuba, held from 12 to 18th of February. Ambassadors planted trees, marking the beginning of a "future EU forest".

Bulgarian ambassador Todor Kanchevski planted tropical tree number 19 and named it "Bulgaria". The local municipal company "Flora and Fauna" will enter the planted trees into a register and provide the embassies with annual information on their development. In the future, every Bulgarian citizen who visits this captivating city will be able to see the tree, as well as to continue to develop the forest, planting a new tree with a Bulgarian name.
