On 12 March 2024 Ambassador Nikolina Kuneva welcomed at the Embassy in Teheran Mrs. Yumiko Takashima, Representative of UNHCR in Iran. The agency’s activities in Iran, in terms of their assistance for the Afghan refugee community, were discussed. In this regard, Mrs. Takashima expressed her gratitude to Bulgaria for the voluntary funding provided in 2023 for their activities in support of the Afghan community. This donation will contribute to the provision of vital health services to the vulnerable Afghan refugees. Mrs. Takashima highly appreciated the cooperation between the Embassy of Bulgaria and the UNHCR office in Tehran, and expressed hope that Bulgaria will maintain its engagement with the issue in the future.
