News - China, Shanghai, Consulate General of the Republic of Bulgaria

The University of National and World Economy (UNWE) and Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) established their relations in 2016. In 2019, the UNWE and SJTU signed a Dual Master’s Degree Program in International Business and Governance. Since then, their ties have developed steadily, and in order to continue building the momentum of bilateral exchanges, a delegation from UNWE visited SJTU on 31 October 2025. It consisted of the Rector of UNWE, Prof. Dimitar Dimitrov, and the Vice-Rector for International Affairs, Assoc. Prof. Yanko Hristozov. They were accompanied by the Consul General of Bulgaria in Shanghai, Vladislav Spasov.

The Bulgarian side was received by the President of SJTU, Prof. Ding Kuiling. He was accompanied by the Director of the Division of Global Cooperation and Exchange, Prof. Yin Haitao; the President and Editor-in-Chief of Shanghai Jiao Tong University Press, Prof. Chen Huadong; the Vice Dean of the School of International and Public Affairs, Prof. Wei Yingjie; the Executive Director of the Bulgarian Center at SJTU, Prof. Che Shengquan; and the Postdoctoral Fellow of the School of Design, Researcher Qin Yifeng, among others.

Both sides appreciated their current cooperation and explored opportunities for future educational collaboration and academic exchanges. SJTU donated to UNWE more than sixty books in the area of humanities.

The delegation also visited New York University – Shanghai and met with the Chancellor, Prof. Tong Shijun, and the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ding Shuzhe.
