The National Day of Bulgaria – March 3rd was celebrated in the Consulate General of Bulgaria in Shanghai on February 28th, 2025. Compatriots from the Bulgarian community in Shanghai, Zhejiang and Jiangsu provinces, together with Chinese friends of Bulgaria and Chinese married to Bulgarians, joined the commemoration. 

In his speech the Consul General Vladislav Spasov expressed his respect for the deeds of Botev and Levski and paid tribute to the heroes who gave their lives for the freedom of Bulgaria. He stressed on the need for preserving Bulgarian national spirit and consciousness, and appreciated the contribution of Bulgarians in the Yangzi River Delta for portraying the positive image of Bulgaria in China.

The support of two Chinese citizens – Ms. Huang Jie and Ms. Tang Jiaojiao – for the Consulate’s activities was recognized by presenting them with the recently translated in Chinese “The Physics of Sorrow” by Georgi Gospodinov.

All guests received Martenitsas on the occasion of the first day of the spring – Baba Marta’s Day.
