The Permanent Representative of Bulgaria to NATO met a delegation of journalists and opinion makers from Moldova

On 21-22 February, a delegation of Moldovan journalists and representatives of NGO visited NATO Headquarters in Brussels, on invitation by NATO’s Public Diplomacy Division. The purpose of the visit was to inform the Moldovan representatives about NATO’s new tasks set by the Alliance at Lisbon Summit.

As part of the program the Moldovan visitors had a discussion on topical issues of NATO’s current agenda with the Permanent Representative of Bulgaria, which Mission to Chisinau has taken up the functions of a Contact Point Embassy (CPE) for Moldova for the period 2011-2012 and plays a leading role in disseminating and explaining of the Alliance policy and tasks in their country. The Permanent Representatives to NATO of Lithuania and Romania, which Embassies have carried out the CPE functions prior to Bulgaria, also took part in the discussion.

Ambassador Churov briefed the group on some of the most important initiatives envisaged in the Plan of activities of the Embassy of Bulgaria in Chisinau for 2011: setting up a media “NATO Friends Club”, an educational project “NATO and security perspectives in the 21st century”, meetings with students from the universities of Taraklia, Belts and other youth oriented activities.
