Allow me to warmly welcome you to the official page of the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria in Canberra. The diplomatic mission in the city works for the development of Bulgaria's cooperation with Australia, New Zealand and the countries of Oceania.

Ladies and gentlemen,

This official page is intended for those wishing to receive up-to-date information about Bulgaria, its history, culture, institutions, economy, training opportunities, travel tips and consular messages.

In recent years, there has been a tendency to strengthen relations between our state and the countries of the region in the fields of education, trade and economic relations, scientific, technical and cultural cooperation. Before the pandemic of COVID-19, a significant increase in the number of travelers from Oceania to Bulgaria was observed.

The main goal of the diplomatic mission is to provide adequate, timely, professional consular services, to support the Bulgarian communities, to assist the church boards and our schools, to build together with the compatriots and create a small Bulgaria far from the Fatherland.

The striving for the strengthening and expansion of the mutually beneficial cooperation and the relations of Bulgaria with the countries and the people of the region is constant. Therefore, our work with local institutions and the help that our compatriots can provide us, who have become a natural bridge of friendship between the Balkans and Oceania for enriching contacts, are of special importance to us.

More than 15,000 Bulgarians and Australians of Bulgarian origin live in Australia. The situation is similar in New Zealand, where the number of our compatriots is about 5,000 people. They contribute to the dignified Bulgarian representation of our Motherland and help it to be less and less unknown and more and more respected in the region.
