Bulgaria was named the host of the 68th session of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (WTO) for 2023. Our country received the prestigious recognition during the session of the European Section of the WTO, which is being held in Yerevan, June 2 and 3. 2022. The Bulgarian household will be an excellent opportunity to present the advantages of our country as a year-round tourist destination. At the event in Yerevan, Bulgaria was represented by Prof. Mariela Modeva, Deputy Minister of Tourism. Within the framework of the program she had the opportunity to hold meetings with Mr. Zurab Pololikashvili, Secretary General of the WTO,  Ms. Sisyan Poghosyan, Chairman of the Tourism Commission of Armenia, Mr. Mehak Apresyan, Chairman of the Tourism Federation of Armenia, Mr. Sofia Zaharaki, Deputy Minister of Tourism of Greece.

During her working visit to Yerevan, Deputy Minister Modeva met with Mr. Kalin Anastasov, Ambassador of Bulgaria to Armenia. It discussed bilateral relations between Bulgaria and Armenia in political and economic terms. The meeting was also attended by Armenian tour operators, who stated that they are increasingly including Bulgaria in their programs. Deputy Minister Modeva also attended the celebrations organized by the Embassy in Yerevan on May 24 and June 1 with students and teachers from the 131st Peyo Yavorov School, as well as with members of the Bulgarian community in Armenia.
