Ambassador Pavlova visits "Peyo Yavorov" primary school in Yerevan on the occasion of the National Enlighteners Day

Before the end of her term as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Armenia, Ambassador Maria Pavlova visited "131" Peyo Yavorov primary school to mark the National Enlighteners Day.  She intended also to say good-bye  to the students and the school management, due to the upcoming end of her term as Bulgarian ambassador in Armenia.

The Bulgarian embassy maintains close ties with Yavorov school, which has established itself as a center for promoting Bulgarian culture, education and traditions in Armenia. During her visit, Ambassador Pavlova laid flowers in front of the monument of the Bulgarian poet Peyo Yavorov. The event was held in the school yard in strict compliance with anti-epidemic standards.

In her speech Amb. Pavlova emphasized the role of the school in strengthening and deepening the Bulgarian-Armenian cultural ties. She warmly thanked the school management and teachers for their efforts to preserve and develop Bulgarian customs, folklore and culture in Armenia. Amb. Pavlova described the poet Yavorov as a great representative of the Bulgarian national enlightening. With his poetic talent he helped strengthening  the historical ties and friendship between the Armenian and Bulgarian people.

The principal of the school Mrs. Susanna Davtyan presented the second classroom, renovated and furnished in the framework of the project "Interactive learning system through the use of modern technologies". It includes the provision of 10 computers and an interactive whiteboard and is realized with the financial support of Bulgaria. The school principal expressed gratitude to the Bulgarian government and the Bulgarian embassy for the donation. Mrs. Davtyan also highlighted the excellent cooperation with the Bulgarian Embassy and the strong commitment of Amb.  Pavlova in helping the school.

In view of the difficult situation in Armenia due to the spread of coronavirus, Mrs. Pavlova provided 350 masks for students and school staff. The masks, which are made of organic cotton and are intended for multiple use, are a donation by the Bulgarian company "Aniger" LTD especially for the Yavorov school pupils.

In connection with the end of Amb. Pavlova's term of office and as an expression of respect for her, the school staff handed over a gift -  a painting representing  typical Armenian nature morte .
