08 November 2022 News

A delegation of the American Jewish Committee (AJC) visited the Consulate General of Bulgaria in Chicago. The visit was part of the AJC's 12th annual Diplomatic Marathon in the US Midwest. During the meeting, friendly and strategic relations between Bulgaria and the State of Israel were confirmed. Consul General Svetoslav Stankov spoke more about the excellent relationship maintained in Chicago with both the Consulate General of Israel and the Holocaust Museum in Skokie. Stankov recalled to the AJC delegation the events related to the rescue of the Bulgarian Jews during the Second World War, which he presented as a lesson of humanity, which should be talked about more among the youth, especially in the context of increasing anti-Semitism around the world. AJC is expected to partner the events on the commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the rescue of the Bulgarian Jews to take place in Chicago in 2023.
