Dear fellow Bulgarians and friends of Bulgaria,

Feb.8th is declared a day of national mourning for the victims of the flooding in Southern
Bulgaria which took the lives of 8 people. Whole villages were flooded after the bursting of a
dam wall – hundreds are now left homeless in winter conditions.

The Consulate General of Bulgaria in Los Angeles has opened a dedicated bank account in order
to raise donations for the flood victims. All funds will be sent to the Bulgarian Red Cross
http://www.redcross.bg/ who are coordinating the relief efforts to provide shelter, food and
clothing to the people in the affected areas.
