The Consul General of Bulgaria in New York Mr. Angel Angelov took part in a forum organized by the New York City Bar Association, dedicated to the Holocaust and the fight against antisemitism in historical and contemporary contexts on April 19th, 2023 . The event lasted more than three hours and was held in the executive hall of the Association's historic building in Manhattan. Around one hundred members of the New York City Bar Association and representatives of the American Jewish community attended the event. The Association was founded in 1870 and has over 23,000 members.

The Bulgarian Consul General gave a speech at the beginning of the first panel and briefly presented the historical facts of the rescue of the Bulgarian Jews, as well as the measures undertaken by Bulgaria to prevent and respond to contemporary manifestations of antisemitism. In particular, the audience was informed about the progress of Bulgaria, in its capacity as a member of the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA), in the implementation of the commitments made during the Malmö International Forum on Holocaust Remembrance, incl. the development of a national plan for combating antisemitism and protecting the Jewish cultural heritage, the institutionalization of the position of National Coordinator for Combating Antisemitism at the level of Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, etc.

In conclusion, the Bulgarian Consul General informed about the events organized in New York dedicated to the 80^th anniversary of the rescue of the Bulgarian Jews and invited the guests to attend them, incl. the screening of the film "A Matter of Survival" on April 24^th at the Consulate General.
