Information about certification and legalisation of Power of attorney or other documents, and about legal translations, which are acknowledged by the Bulgarian Embassy in Bern

19 September 2013 Consular News

Foreign citizens can sign business and private papers like power of attorney, declarations etc. In front of the Bulgarian Consul in Bern. He is legalizing your signature, so the signet papers will be recognized by the official Bulgarian authorities in charge. The consul is authorized to legalize a signature only on papers written in Bulgarian language or such with parallel interpretation in Bulgarian and English. The fee for this service is 40 Francs per document.

If you need to use official Swiss documents in Bulgaria, be it for business purposes (registration of companies, trade marks, patents) or personal and family reasons such as getting married in Bulgaria, registering a new born child etc. they have first to be legalized with Apostle at the Legalization Office of your local cantonal state service.

Once legalised by the cantonal authorities, such documents do not need further legalisation by the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria in Bern, but should be translated in Bulgarian language. Due to the lack of official Interpreter of the Embassy we recommend you to search in internet and directly contact some of the many private Translationbüros in Bulgaria /they usually offer a very good price quality ratio/. There are only two Translationbüros in Switzerland, which official translations can be certificated by the Bulgarian Embassy in Bern. Here are their contacts:

Mrs. Hild Adelina - Addresse: Tobelrainstrasse16, 8820 Wädenswil. Tel.: 043 538 58 54, Mobil: 076 224 58 54, e-mail: [email protected]

Mrs. BurriYordanka- Addresse: 6210 Sursee, Centralstrasse8a. Фирма „Lingua”  Tel.: 041 921 68 06, Fax.: 041 921 68 08, e-mail: [email protected]

The same principle applies if you want to use official Bulgarian papers in Switzerland. In order to be recognised by the Swiss authorities, the Bulgarian documents need first to be legalized with an Apostille weather directly by the Bulgarian Ministry of foreign affairs in Sofia or using the services of some private Translationbüro in Bulgaria /almost all of them are offering this service/. Important notice: The Bulgarian Embassy in Bern is not authorised to legalize official Bulgarian Documents with an Apostille.
