Commemoration of June 2nd in Beijing

On the occasion of the 148th anniversary of Botev’s Day and the Day of the Fallen for the Freedom and Independence of Bulgaria, on June 2nd, the staff of the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria in Beijing, as well as representatives of the Bulgarian community in Beijing and Chinese citizens gathered in front of the monument of Hristo Botev in Chaoyang Park to pay tribute to the fallen hero.

The monument is the work of renowned Chinese sculptor Yuan Xikun, who also attended the event.

Ambassador Andrey Tehov delivered a short speech about the life and work, as well as the importance of Hristo Botev for the national liberation of Bulgaria.

Following the speech, members of the Embassy staff, as well as one of the staff member's children recited poems by the renowned poet. After that, a wreath was laid at the monument on behalf of the Embassy.

After the ceremony, a small cocktail reception was held for all present.
