Bulgarian Parliamentarians visit NATO Headquarters

On 7 November 2011, a group of parliamentarians from the Bulgarian Parliament visited NATO Headquarters in Brussels for briefings and discussions on topical issues of Alliance’s current political agenda. The group included members of the Foreign Affairs and Defence, and the Budget and Finance Committees of the National Assembly of Bulgaria.
During the one-day information program the parliamentarians had the opportunity to have open discussions on key themes such as the NATO-Russia cooperation, Smart Defence,  NATO mission and transition in Afghanistan, operations in Libya, Kosovo, etc.
The MPs also met with the Permanent Representative of Bulgaria to NATO Ambassador Todor Churov, who briefed them on the Bulgarian Priorities in the context of the Lisbon Summit decisions and the preparations for the upcoming NATO Summit in Chicago, in May 2012. Discussions focused, among others, on the NATO partnerships, regional security, NATO’s operations and missions, development of capabilities and Bulgaria’s participation in Smart Defence projects, NATO Reforms.
