The Bulgarian school and choir "Gergana" in New York celebrated the “Holiday of Letters”
08 April 2024 NewsOn Sunday, April 7, 2024, for the tenth year in a row, the first-grade students from the Bulgarian school and choir "Gergana" in New York celebrated the “Holiday of Letters”.
The children were welcomed by the Consul General in New York, Angel Angelov, who gave them reading books and pointed out that every great journey begins with the first step. For our children in New York, letters are the first step on their path to getting familiar with their Bulgarian roots and strengthening the relationship with relatives.
Girls from the higher grades told them about the Bulgarian traditions of celebrating the Day of Lazarki, and the mothers paraded with clothes with Bulgarian folklore elements made by the designer Maya Nedelcheva.
The event ended with the traditional Bulgarian horo, followed by a cake for the first graders.
