On 1 June 2026, Ambassador Angel Bandjov, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Bulgaria to the UN Office and other international organizations in Geneva, met with Ms Mirjana Spoljaric, President of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).

On 13 May 2026, Ambassador Angel Bandjov met with Kate Forbes, President of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC).

On 4 May 2026, a side event was held in Geneva to present the Republic of Bulgaria’s candidacy for re-election as a member of the Council of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) for the 2027–2030 term. Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications Mr. Dimitar Nedyalkov outlined Bulgaria’s priorities as a future member of the Council and emphasized the need for a strong, effective, and future-oriented International Telecommunication Union.

On 31 march, during a courtesy meeting held on the occasion of the assumption of office of the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Bulgaria to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva, Ambassador Angel Bandjov, together with the Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), Mr. Daren Tang, the instrument of accession of the Republic of Bulgaria to the Geneva Act of the Lisbon Agreement was officially deposited – an important step towards strengthening the international protection of geographical indications and appellations of origin.

A courtesy meeting between the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Bulgaria to the United Nations Office and other International Organizations in Geneva, Ambassador Angel Bandjov on the occasion of assumption of his duties and the Director-General of the International Labour Organization (ILO) – Mr. Gilbert F. Houngbo took place on the 20 March 2026 in the Headquarters of the Organization in Geneva.

On 9 April 2026, the newly appointed Permanent Representative of the Republic of Bulgaria to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva, Ambassador Angel Bandjov, held a courtesy meeting on the occasion of the commencement of his diplomatic mandate with the Secretary-General of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), Ms. Doreen Bogdan-Martin.

On March 19, 2026, Ambassador Angel Bandzhov, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Bulgaria to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva, visited the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN).

On 17th March 2026, at the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Bulgaria to the UN and other international organizations in Geneva the Permanent Representative H. E. Angel Banjov met a delegation of the Jewish non-governmental organization B’nai B’rith International, headed by Mr. Daniel Mariaschin, Chief Executive Officer.

The Permanent Representative of the Republic of Bulgaria to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva, and Head of the Bulgarian delegation, Ambassador Angel Bandjov, took part in the High-Level Segment of the 2026 session of the Conference on Disarmament, under the presidency of the Kingdom of Morocco. This important event was attended by Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Deputy Ministers, Permanent Representatives and other high-ranking government officials, who made personal or pre-recorded video statements. The High-Level Segment was also addressed on the first day by the UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres. The High-Level Segment coincided with the fourth anniversary of Russian federation’s full-scale military aggression against Ukraine. On this occasion, a joint statement on behalf of 41 countries, including Bulgaria, made the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Norway.

In the face of the dramatic changes that we have been witnessing lately in humanitarian access, protection, significant decline in humanitarian funding, our approach must also change if we are to remain adequate and effective. In this respect, we welcome the humanitarian reset initiative presented by [UN] Under-Secretary General Fletcher“, said in his statement in the general debate of the ECOSOC Humanitarian Affairs Segment Ambassador Yuri Sterk, Permanent Representative of Bulgaria to the UN Office in Geneva.
