CONCERT  "BULGARIA AND CUBA: MUSIC FOR THE SOUL" HELD IN HAVANA

On 6 May 2024, a concert "Bulgaria and Cuba: Music for the Soul" took place in the packed hall of the "Palacio del Marqués de Arcos" in Havana with the special participation of maestro Victoria Lazarova, maestro Ivette Betancourt and maestro Ubail Zamora (Ubail Zamora) and their graduates, all accompanied by the Cuban virtuoso pianist Ana Paula Gil (Ana Paula Gil).

Presented were works by Georgi Zlatev-Cherkin "Do you remember" /Dimcho Debelyanov/, "The Blackberry" /Ivan Vazov/; Lili Lesichkova: "Purple and Maiden" /Krum Penev/; Parashkev Hadzhiev: "Grozdano mome", "Bre, Stoyane" /on folk texts/; Victoria Lazarova: "Ederlesi".

In the second part of the concert, students from the Center for Performing Arts "Teatro Lírico Nacional de Cuba" (TLNC) presented selections from the Cuban zarzuela "Cecilia Valdés" by Gonzalo Roig.

Ambassador Todor Kanchevski emphasized that the concert commemorates three significant events for Bulgaria: 6 May  - St. George's Day, the Day of Courage and a holiday of the Bulgarian Army; the Orthodox Easter - the biggest holiday for Eastern Orthodox Christians, which marks the return of Jesus to life - the Resurrection; The last of the 15 events of the Embassy's cultural calendar within the second Europe Month in Cuba, which this year took place in four Cuban cities - Havana, Cienfuegos, Holguín and Santiago de Cuba.

Guests of the concert were diplomats, representatives of Cuban institutions, Bulgarian community, Cubans who completed higher education in Bulgaria.
