Opening ceremony of Bulgaria-China art exhibition “Ceramic Transitions”

The opening ceremony of the Bulgaria-China art exhibition “Ceramic Transitions” took place in Jingdezhen, Jiangxi province, on 1 May 2024. It presents artworks of the Bulgarian artists Emilia Emileva, Georgi Milenov, Iva Ivanova, Maria Ganeva, Marta Dimitrova, Mihaela Kamenova, Nadezhda Hristova, Ralitsa Yovkova and Tsvetan Donkovski, as well as the Chinese artists, Qi Zhenyu, Ruan Yuelai, Sun Yiyun, Tan Danwu, Wang Jie, Yu Hui and Zheng Wenqing. The curator of the exhibition, Assadour Markarov is a Bulgarian professor in the Department of Sculpture at the Varbanov Fiber Art Research Centre of China Academy of Art.

All artists and the curator were present at the opening ceremony, together with the Consul General of Bulgaria in Shanghai Vladislav Spasov and the Deputy Director of the National Ceramic Culture Inheritance and Innovation Pilot Zone – Jingdezhen and Director of Jingdezhen Ceramic Culture Tourism Holdings Group Mr. Liu Zili. The host of the ceremony was the Director of Taoxichuan Ceramic Art Center Ms. Yi Guangying.

In his address at the opening event the Consul General underlined the positive results in the cooperation between Troyan and Jingdezhen during the last two years. He praised the role of Prof. Assadour Markarov for the development of Bulgaria-China relations in the area of art and appreciated the importance of Jingdezhen for the preservation and development of Chinese ceramic culture and art.

Mr. Liu Zili pointed out that the exhibition is a continuation of the Ceramic art and culture exchange exhibition between Taoxichuan Art Center, Jingdezhen and the National Exhibition of Arts and Crafts - Oreshak, Troyan that took place in Bulgaria in September 2023. He underlined the willingness of Chinese side to further develop cooperation between local authorities and art communities of both countries in the area of ceramics, glass, fiber, metal, and wood art.   

The Bulgaria-China art exhibition “Ceramic Transitions” will be open for visitors in Jingdezhen till 30 July 2024.
