The State Institute for Culture took part in the EUNIC Mobility Scheme in Berlin
As part of the EUNIC Mobility Scheme, Ms. Katalina Vasileva, Senior Expert at the State Institute for Culture to the Minister of Foreign Affairs participated in an exchange program in Berlin last week, organized by the Austrian Cultural Forum in Germany.
The exchange included visits to German and international cultural and diplomatic institutions, meetings with representatives of the EUNIC Berlin cluster, as well as a series of presentations, exhibitions, seminars, and discussions for all program participants. Participants learned about the work of the international architecture studio “J. MAYER H. Und Partner, Architekten mbB,” which works at the intersection of architecture, communication, and new technologies, as well as the magazine “ARCH+”—an independent German architecture magazine founded in 1968.
The program furthermore included a visit to the “Weißensee” Academy of Art and Design, founded in Berlin in 1946, one of the leading representatives of the Bauhaus movement in the second half of the 20th century. The Academy’s primary mission is to uphold academic freedom and promote international collaboration focused on student practice. Participants also visited the “Museum of Things” - a museum of modernism and the history of design. Founded in 1907 at the initiative of artists, architects, industrialists, and politicians, the museum’s guiding principles encompass material integrity, objectivity, functionality, and sustainability - themes that remain influential in design and architecture to this day.
The mobility program in Berlin coincided with a visit of designers from the “EUNIC NEXT! 2026” program. The project, organized by the EUNIC Berlin cluster, explores the role of design as a catalyst for social change and emphasizes social and environmental sustainability. The “Next – Young European Design” project series presents a new generation of European designers who challenge existing systems and demonstrate how design can create sustainable structures for the future.
The full membership of the State Institute for Culture in the EUNIC network has created major opportunities since 2021 for exchange within the framework of programs on key topics and issues related to European cultural policies and the approaches used to implement them.
