Sofia City Art Gallery

Over the years, the State Cultural Institute under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Sofia City Art Gallery have been working together on a number of projects. Some of the works in the Sculpture Park of the Ministry are provided by the rich collection of the city gallery, and works from the Art Fund of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs often visit thematic exhibitions in the halls of "Gen. Gurko “№1.
In 2007, the two institutions presented the Europe.Art exhibition, dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the signing of the Treaties of Rome establishing the European Union. Missions from EU countries as well as neighboring countries were invited to present works from their collections.
In 2014, the exhibition "TO BE CONTINUED..." was opened at the Sofia City Art Gallery. It presents the rich collection of contemporary Bulgarian art by the Swiss diplomat and passionate art admirer Gaudenz B. Ruf.
In 2020, on the occasion of the 130th anniversary of the birth of Konstantin Shtarkelov, SGHG presents in an exhibition the life and work of the artist. Some of the works in the exhibition, which are from the fund of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, are presented to the public for the first time.
The nature of the activity of the two institutions is invariably connected with the presentation of projects of the Sofia City Art Gallery abroad, which are realized jointly with the Institute and the Bulgarian missions abroad.
