23/05/26

On May 18, the exhibition “Connectedness” was presented at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as part of the cultural program accompanying the South-East European Cooperation Process (SEECP). It is a key political framework for building trust, cooperation, and good-neighborly relations among participants in Southeast Europe (SEE), and over the course of its existence, it has established itself as a major regional platform for dialogue. On July 1, 2025, the Republic of Bulgaria assumed the SEECP Chairmanship for the fourth time; in accordance with its Charter, the Chairmanship is held on a rotating basis for a one-year term. The current Bulgarian presidency will conclude on June 30, 2026, and its term will coincide with the 30th anniversary of the Process’s establishment.

In 2025, on the occasion of Bulgaria's presidency of the SEECP, the State Institute for Culture to the Minister of Foreign Affairs initiated the creation of an exhibition presenting various perspectives on the themes of cooperation, mutual support, and trust. Dr. Albena Spasova, curator of the exhibition and co-founder of the International Triennial of Stage Posters – Sofia, describes “Connectedness" as "a collection that brings together, in a single selection, posters from several series - from the renowned global project ‘Tolerance,’ curated by Mirko Ilic, to examples from the ‘Contact’ and ‘Coexistence’ initiatives of the International Triennial of Stage Posters."

"What these exhibitions have in common takes various forms—from the closeness of their thematic passion, driven by the poster’s power to act as a call for greater compassion and humanism, expressing the natural urge for peace and mutual trust in a world of deepening conflicts, through their international structure, uniting artists from around the world, to the few common posters featured in both “Contact” and “Tolerance,” which most convincingly demonstrate the universality of the idea of connectedness and the poster’s mission to convey powerful and meaningful messages.” The State Institute for Culture to the Minister of Foreign Affairs is a partner of the 11th International Triennial of Stage Posters, which establishes Sofia as one of the leading international hubs for stage and cultural posters, featuring artists from 36 countries and free access to over 700 posters from Bulgaria and around the world in 2025.
