On the occasion of the 24 May, the Day of Bulgarian Culture, the Bulgarian Cultural Institute in Prague and the Cultural-educational club of the Bulgarian community in Pilsner in partnership with the Regional scientific and technical library organized the simultaneous opening of two exhibitions in the library premises on 19 May.

“The Cyrillic alphabet – the new script of the European Union” is an exposition of photo posters of contemporary authors’ scripts. Produced by graduates from the National Academy of Art from the class of Prof. Kiril Gogov and renowned masters of scripts, these works present artists who found their inspiration in old Bulgarian symbols uncovered at archaeological excavations and other ancient signs.

The "Ex libris BG" exhibition, organized by the Institute for culture, presents the accomplishments of thirty Bulgarian artists working in the area of ex libris – applied miniature graphics that identifies the ownership of a book. The samples presented are by renowned artists such as Dimo Kolibarov, Eduar Penkov, Krikor Kasapyan, Olga Paskaleva, Peter Velikov, Hristo Kerin, Yulian Yordanov and others. Visitors have the opportunity to experience the curtness of the working of the ex libris, the precise expression of the relation to the owner by the means of the ironic painting, symbols and metaphors.

The exhibition was opened by Boyan Panchev, Director of the Bulgarian Cultural Institute and the Director of the scientific and technical library who spoke about the deeds of Cyril and Methodius. The event was attended by many representatives of the local cultural elite, local and regional administrations and many Bulgarians and Czechs – friends of Bulgaria.
