12/06/26

On 9 June, the Bulgarian Minority Self-Government in Budapest's District XII presented the exhibition “Bulgaria from a Bird’s-Eye View.” The event took place at the District Municipality. The exhibition is presented in cooperation with the State Institute for Culture to the Minister of Foreign Affairs. Earlier last month, on the occasion of Bulgarian Cyrillic Alphabet and Language Day 24 May, the same venue presented the exhibition “Stories from the Glagolitic Era”, also part of the “Traveling Exhibitions” program of the State Institute for Culture.

The exhibition “Bulgaria from a Bird’s-Eye View” presents a curated selection of 25 large-format photographs by Alexander Ivanov, dedicated to the beauty of Bulgaria’s natural and historical landmarks. The Bulgarian photographer’s images take viewers on a journey through the picturesque and awe-inspiring aerial shots he captured with his lens while flying hundreds of kilometers in a motorized hang glider over various regions of Bulgaria. Over the course of 17 years and more than 500 flight hours, he has managed to capture the beauty of Bulgaria from the air—the myriad hues of the four seasons, from the Black Sea, through the Rose Valley to the Rila and Pirin Mountains, and iconic sites such as Perperikon, the Belogradchik Rocks, Tsarevets, the ancient Thracian sanctuaries, and many others.

The exhibition “Bulgaria from a Bird’s-Eye View” is part of the “Traveling Exhibitions” program of the State Institute for Culture to the Minister of Foreign Affairs. To date, it has been presented in Chile, Italy, Tunisia, Denmark, the United Kingdom, the Czech Republic, the UAE, Spain, Canada, Romania, Indonesia, Norway, Germany, Egypt, and Valencia, and most recently it was presented at the Permanent Mission of Bulgaria to the UN in New York.
