Opening of the exhibition "Re-Action: Bulgaria and the Euro" at the Bulgarian Cultural Institute in Budapest, Hungary

On 29th January 2026, the Bulgarian Cultural Institute in Budapest presented the exhibition "Re-action: Bulgaria and the Euro", courtesy of the International Triennial of the Stage Poster - Sofia and in partnership with the State Institute for Culture at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria. The event brought together representatives of the Bulgarian community in Hungary, friends of Bulgaria, and official guests, including directors and representatives of foreign cultural institutes in Hungary.

The event was hosted by the a.i director of the Cultural Institute in Budapest, Ms. Tatyana Krasteva-Arato. In her welcome speech, the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Bulgaria to Hungary H. E. Ms. Maria Angelieva emphasised the importance of Bulgaria joining the Eurozone as of January 1, 2026. As its 21st member, Bulgaria must now strive for full membership in the Schengen area, something H. E. Ms. Angelieva is grateful to be able to count on Hungarian support for. This would provide real benefits for Bulgarian citizens, and affirm the country as part of a larger, European family. Ambassador Angelieva concluded that the euro is a symbol of unity, of common values ​​and a shared perspective for economic development and social well-being for all citizens of the Eurozone.

The exhibition was first presented in Budapest in October 2025 to ambassadors and officials at the Representation of the European Commission. In November 2025, the collection was displayed on the fence of the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria, where it continues to attract the attention of passers-by.
