The Bulgarian documentary film “Sylvie Vartan: Out of Love” was presented in Tunisia as part of the CinéF Francophone Film Festival, which traditionally takes place in April at the French Cultural Institute in the Tunisian capital. The screening is organized by the Bulgarian Embassy in Tunisia with the assistance of the State Institute for Culture under the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

This year’s edition of the festival presents 15 films from 14 countries, and for the first time, part of the screenings are held in the newly opened space for contemporary art and cinema, Art Center B7L9 La Marsa. The Art Center is built in a modern ethno style and provides a platform for expression for young creatives in various fields of art, in addition to serving as a hub for meetings with famous and established names in modern contemporary art. The screening of the Bulgarian documentary, which took place immediately after the opening of the festival, was attended by representatives of the diplomatic corps, as well local viewers and foreign visitors and tourists. The film generated strong interest in the audience, which expressed a desire for organising a second screening outside the festival program.

“Sylvie Vartan: Out of Love” (2025, 60’) presents the life and career of the Bulgarian-born French singer, from the humble beginnings in her native village of Iskrets to the global music. Filmed over the span of 16 years, the documentary tells the story of Sylvie Vartan’s successes and doubts, her meetings with the Beatles and her love and breakup with French superstar Johnny Hallyday. The film is directed by Emma Konstantinova and written by Georgi Toshev. The premiere of “Sylvie Vartan: Out of Love” took place in October 2025 as part of the 11th edition of the Cinelibri film and book festival in Sofia, in the presence of Sylvie Vartan.
