Opening of an Exhibition On The Occasion Of 60 Years Of Diplomatic Relations Between Bulgaria and Algeria
The Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikolay Milkov opened an exhibition dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Bulgaria and the Democratic and People's Republic of Algeria, in the presence of representatives of the diplomatic corps, members of the public and journalists. The exhibition was organized by the Embassy of the Democratic and People's Republic of Algeria in Sofia, together with the State Institute for Culture of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and with the assistance of the State Agency "Archives" and the Bulgarian Telegraph Agency.
In his address to the official guests present, Minister Nikolay Milkov highlighted the traditionally good friendly relations between Bulgaria and Algeria and the importance that both countries attach to the development of an active political dialogue and the need to search for new opportunities for partnerships and contacts. He expressed wishes for peace and prosperity of Algeria on the occasion of the upcoming national holiday of the country on November 1.
For his part, the ambassador of Algeria to Bulgaria, Baia Bensmail, stated that the close friendship between the two peoples is the basis of the rich history of relations with Bulgaria, which was one of the first countries to recognize the country's independence. She expressed her gratitude to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the excellent cooperation. This is reflected in a very practical dimension in the contacts between the countries and is an excellent example of diplomatic relations based on mutual respect and multilateral cooperation.
The director of the State Institute for Culture, Snezhana Joveva, and the chairman of the "Bulgaria-Algeria" Friendship Society, Ivan Stefanov, also delivered a welcome speech.
The exposition includes a documentary exhibition on the theme "Algeria and Bulgaria: 60 years of friendship and cooperation", presenting 60 archival photos and official documents from BTA and the State Agency "Archives", as well as a collection of Bulgarian and Algerian works of art under the title "The beauty of Algeria and Bulgaria through the art of artists Georgi Gyoshev, Amira Habibes and Ilies Belkaid". It can be seen until November 30 in the exhibition hall of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
