BG SCREEN ONLINE takes Bulgarian cinema abroad

     On the occasion of its 15th anniversary the State Institute for Culture under the Minister of Foreign Affairs presents more than 20 Bulgarian film productions which will be available for online watching outside the territory of Bulgaria. The project starts on November 20 and will continue until December, 6. The virtual film festival BG Screen Online will present a diverse selection of contemporary feature, documentary, animated, and short films. The project is aimed at Bulgarians who live abroad and will be implemented with the support of the Bulgarian diplomatic and consular missions around the world. Host of the festival is the online platform Neterra TV+. All productions selected for the project will be available for free watching at any time and on any type of device.

     In times of a global pandemic, the need for a closer connection with Bulgarian culture is even more tangible. That is why, in the month of November, when Bulgarians celebrate their National Awakeners, the State Institute for Culture presents a film project dedicated to the Bulgarian and foreign online audience.

     Among the selected movie titles are some of the famous productions of the Bulgarian film director Niki Iliev: The Foreigner, Living Legends, and All She Wrote. The audience will also be able to watch the first feature film of AGITPROPThe Infinity Garden, directed by Galin Stoev, who has almost three decades of experience on the theatre stage, ten of which in France. The already well-established company AGITPROP participates at the festival also with one of their documentary productions – Palace for the People. It tells the story of five of the most representative building of the socialism.

     In the selections can be found the film Fly by Rossinant, directed by Georgi Stoev, music composed by Goran Bregović, and the film Monkey – a story about growing up, told through the eyes of its director Dimitar Kotsev-Shosho.

     The program of BG Screen Online includes as well: the feature film Zaches, directed by Anri Kulev, two of his documentaries: The Mystery of Veda Slovena and Soulful, and his animated film Lilly and the Magic Pearl, based on the beloved tale by Valery Petrov. 

     Among the list of documentary productions presented in the project are Loving Carmen with Alexandrina Pendatchanska, and The Medea Element with Snezhina Petrova, as well as another of Nayo Titzin's films - The Golden Heart of Sofia, co-directed by Goran Blagoev.

     Bulgarians abroad will be also able to watch the documentaries of Tatyana Pandurska: I Believe in the Genius of the Bulgarian People - Prof. Ivan Shishmanov, The Invincible General - Vladimir Vazov, and Konstantin Velichkov - the European. Two documentary productions of the Bulgarian National Television will be available, too: The Wisdom of Alexandria, and The Violin Is my Voice

     The short films selection in the festival is a production of Compote Collective and joints six contemporary Bulgarian poems, recreated in six original short films in a project titled Mark and Verse.

     All films in the festival BG Screen Online will be available worldwide, outside the territory of Bulgarian, from November 20 to December 6.

     Neterra TV + is a new Bulgarian online platform where film buffs are able to rent for watching or purchase the latest and quality Bulgarian films, foreign movies, live events, and other original content.
