Sofia Independent Film Festival and Filmmaker Project - New York are presenting three Bulgarian "cinematographic projects in development" at the International Independent Film Week in New York (September 17 - 22 2016)

“Nanuk”, directed by Milko Lazarov, “Fish Bone”, directed by Dragomir Sholev, and “Heights”, directed by Viktor Bojinov  have been selected among hundreds of projects from all over the world to participate in the most prestigious international co-production forum in the USA - "Independent Film Week". Four more Bulgarian productions will participate in the accompanying program of the film week.

For the first time, Bulgarian projects will be featured on the Independent Film Week independent platform in New York (the total number of selected projects is 165 out of 25 countries). The Bulgarian participation is provided by Sofia Independent FF. Festival Director Jana Karaivanova will present the projects to producers, investors, festival directors and artists from America and around the world. For several years the State Institute for Culture has been a partner of the initiatives of Sofia Independent FF and the New York Festival of Bulgarian Cinema.

The Independent Cinema Week is hosted and organized by the Independent Filmmaker Project (IFP), the world's largest independent cinema organization. The Bulgarian participation is the result of the partnership between the Sofia Independent Film Festival and the International Forum from 2012.

Founded in 2010, the IFP Festival Forum includes over 100 American and international festival makes and managers, including representatives from the Berlin, Cannes, Full Frame, Hot Docs, New York Film Festival, New Directors, Rotterdam, Slamdans, Sundance, SXSW, and Tribeca, who visit it every year in search of new productions and talents during the Independent Cinema Week. It will present 160 "projects in development" this year. The projects that come from outside the American continent are presented at the forum through international partners including, this year, the Sofia Independent Film Festival.
