Exhibition "Connecting Horizons" Brings Together Art from Bulgaria and Malta
On September 15, 2026, the exhibition "Connecting Horizons" opened at the Mission Gallery of the State Institute for Culture to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, featuring Bulgarian artist Nina Ruseva and Maltese sculptor Jennings Falzon.
The project places the encounter between Bulgaria and Malta—two European nations united by shared values and rich cultural traditions—at the heart of an artistic and cultural dialogue. By combining painting and sculpture, the exhibition creates a shared space for dialogue between diverse artistic approaches and cultural perspectives.
The official opening featured welcoming remarks by Mr. Yavor Koynakov, Acting Director of the State Institute for Culture; Dr. Borislav Boyanov, Honorary Consul of Malta in Bulgaria; Mr. Emil Iliev, Mayor of Strumyani Municipality; and H.E. Ann Marie Muscat Fenech Adami, Ambassador of Malta to Bulgaria. The event was also attended by members of the diplomatic corps, media representatives, art patrons, and friends of the Mission Gallery.
The exhibition was organized by the State Institute for Culture to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria in cooperation with H.E. Ann Marie Muscat Fenech Adami, non-resident Ambassador of Malta to the Republic of Bulgaria, and with the support of the Ministry for Foreign and European Affairs of Malta.
The initiative is also conceived as a step towards a sustainable partnership among artists, galleries, and cultural institutions in Bulgaria and Malta. It outlined opportunities for future showcases of Bulgarian artists in Malta and Maltese artists in Bulgaria, thereby contributing to the deepening of cultural exchange and mutual understanding between the two countries.
The exhibition is open for viewing until October 6, 2026.
