An Exhibition of Argentinian Artist Leticia Burgos Opened at the Mission Gallery
The exhibition "Spirit and Matter" by Argentinian artist Leticia Burgos was opened at the Mission Gallery. The event is part of the SOFIA PAPER ART FEST 2023 program and is organized by the Amateras Foundation and the State Institute for Culture at the Minister of Foreign Affairs. The exhibition is under the patronage of the Embassy of Argentina and was opened by His Excellency Alfredo Atanasoff, Ambassador of the Republic of Argentina to Bulgaria.
"It is an honor for the Republic of Argentina that an artist like Leticia Burgos can be represented in Bulgaria. This is an Argentinian who is already known as a Bulgarian, since Leticia has been participating in a project with Bulgaria for several years. She is a very recognizable author in Argentina, she also teaches at one of the most prestigious universities in Mendoza, Argentina. Under her wing are many students whom she trains to engage in the art of paper. Her works will remain without a doubt in the years", stated in his welcoming speech H.E. Alfredo Atanasoff.
For her part, the director of the State Institute for Culture at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Snezhana Joveva, emphasized that it is an honor for the "Mission" gallery to host such an artist.
Leticia Burgos pointed out that her works are the result of many studies over the years. "It is a dream come true for me to be here in Bulgaria," she pointed out.
The exhibition presents a rare selection of works with author's paper and a complex combination of different techniques and textures. Each of the works has a deep spiritual message, complemented by rich expressive materiality. The transition from strong structures to subtle, abstract and figurative images creates a sense of the immense power of the message woven by the author. Her characteristic powerful engravings, intertwined with reliefs and structures, create the feeling of movement and spirituality of the material.
The Bulgarian public will have the opportunity to visit the exhibition “Spirit and Matter” until July 28, 2023.
