The Omnibus "Mark and Verse – Animation Poetry" Meets with the Audience at the Mission Gallery

On October 13, 2021 at 6 pm the project of Compote Collective – 12 animated films based on contemporary Bulgarian poems, will be presented together with a book-album in the gallery of the State Institute for Culture.

The State Institute for Culture has been a partner of the Mark and Verse project for several years through the presentation of films in the programs of the Bulgarian diplomatic missions. Now we participate in the creation of this exhibition and catalog to it with the confidence that the creative energy it carries will be another convincing message about the vitality of Bulgarian culture and its potential to communicate our country. 

"Mark and Verse" is a project realized after the idea of ​​Vessela Dancheva, as a production of Compote Collective. "My desire to realize a series of short poetic films was born with the creation of the artistic platform Compote Collective. I know how challenging and inspiring the connection between poetry and animation is. I wanted to share this experience with my teammates and provoke them to find a verse to turn into an original animated film.”             

The poets whose poems are the starting point for the directors in the collection are - Dimitar Voev, Georgi Gospodinov, Marin Bodakov, Maria Doneva, Petar Chukhov, Anamaria Koeva, Kaloyan Pramatarov, Dilyan Elenkov, Stefan Ivanov, Stefan Ikoga. And the author's reading and cinematic interpretation of the films are the work of the directors - Ivan Bogdanov on "The Milkmaid", Asparuh Petrov on "A Little Morning Crime", Boris Despodov on "Odeon", Milen Vitanov on "Natural Novel in 8 Chapters", Joanna Alexandrova on "Shallow Vein", Dalibor Reininger on "The Last Day", Vessela Dancheva on "Love during Tourism", Petya Zlateva on "Tasks for the Day", Natalia Atanasova on "Existential", Boris Pramatarov on "Post-Industrial", Ina Nikolova on "Over Things" and Dmitry Yagodin on "100% Mood".

The films were produced between 2015 and 2020 and have enjoyed national and international success at film festivals and film forums and have won numerous awards.

The presentation of the project and the catalog will be held in the Mission Gallery in compliance with the anti-epidemiological measures.
