“The art of Bulgarian books” exhibition on display in Finland

“The art of Bulgarian books” exhibition was introduced on 27 May at the Länsimäen kirjasto library (Suunnistajankuja 2) in Vantaa to celebrate the Day of Bulgarian Education and Culture. The event was organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria in Helsinki and Mrs. Margarita Vidinovska, director of the library.

The exhibition presents some of the finest accomplishments in graphic design and illustration of Bulgarian books published since 1900. The displayed examples were taken from children books, encyclopedias, historical publications, graphics, book covers, typographic prints, calligraphy and other illustrated editions.

Some of the illustrators and graphic artists presented at the exhibition are popular names such as Victor Paunov, Tonya Goranova, Tsvyatko Ostoich, Venelin Valkanov, Sevda Poturyan, Yassen Gyuzelev, Siana Zaharieva and Yana Levieva.

By the end of the year the exhibition, part of the “Travelling exhibitions” programme of the Institute for Culture, will be presented in Tallinn, Warsaw and other European capitals.

In Vantaa the exhibition was be available to visitors until 20 June.
