On occasion of the National Day of Bulgaria, on 3rd March the Embassies of the Republic of Bulgaria to the Slovak Republic and to Armenia and the Permanent Representation of the Republic of Bulgaria to the Council of Europe in Strasbourg presented the photographic exhibition "Ancient Treasures of Bulgaria". The exhibiion is courtesy of a scientific team from the Institute of Balkan Studies with a Centre for Thracology at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, with Senior Assistant Professor Dr. Alexandra Milanova as project coordinator. The exhibition is hosted abroad with support from the State Institute for Culture to the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
The exhibition consists of photographs of handcrafted gold and silver objects of exceptional artistic and historical value - precious vessels, jewelry, wreaths, weapons and other artifacts found on the territory of present-day Bulgaria. Among them are masterpieces from the world-famous Panagyurishte treasure, the Borovo, Valchitran and a number of other treasures. These objects are invaluable evidence of the high artistic style of antiquity, and stun with their remarkable ornamentation and elegance.
The "Ancient Treasures of Bulgaria" exhibition was presented for the first time in July 2023, in the central lobby of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. On 25th July 2023, a scientific seminar of the same name also took place, at the Institut français in Sofia. Since then, the collection has been showcased in various places, including the Bulgarian Cultural Institute in London, and in Islamabad.
