Upcoming opening of the collective exhibition "Connectedness" at the "Mission" Gallery, 6th February 2026
The State Institute for Culture at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is pleased to present the exhibition "Connectedness" – a collaborative project by sculptor Sava Tzonev and painter Mihael Artamontzev. The exhibition brings together two distinct yet deeply kindred artistic approaches – stone sculpture and drawing – in pursuit of a unity between matter and gesture, weight and lightness, thought and impulse.
At the heart of the exhibition lies the concept of connectedness, not as an abstract notion, but as an experience of continuity across forms, materials, cultures, and time. The project explores those subtle points of contact where different artistic languages begin to resonate in harmony.
Stone – with its density, durability, and memory – carries profound, almost archetypal meanings. In Sava Tzonev’s sculptures, it becomes a field of both tension and silence. The forms result from a slow and contemplative process, a kind of “negotiation” with the material, where time holds the same value as the volume itself. These sculptures seek a balance between the external and internal, between the visible and the unsaid.
Mihael Artamontzev’s drawings convey an opposing but complementary energy – spontaneous, lively, and free from material weight. The line functions as a gesture that seeks without fixing a final form, capturing the moment of connection between idea and hand, thought and movement.
The encounter between stone and drawing is not built as a contrast, but as a space of contact. It is precisely in this space that the exhibition’s central theme – connectedness – unfolds, as a shared field of experience and meaning.
The exhibition can be viewed on weekdays from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM at the "Mission" Gallery of the State Institute for Culture at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 8th until 27th February 2026.
