Screening of the Bulgarian film "Petya to my Petya" at the 36th European Film Festival in Amman, Jordan
On 20 September 2024, in the open cinema of the Royal Film Commission in Amman, the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, with the support of the State Institute for Culture, EUNIC and the organizers of the EU Delegation in Amman, screened the Bulgarian film "Petya of my Petya" directed by Alexander Kosev. The event was part of the European Film Festival in Jordan, which takes place between September 14 and 30 this year. The screening of one of the most popular Bulgarian feature films of the last decade, "Petya on my Petya" attracted a large audience of diplomats, Jordanian and Bulgarian citizens, who identified it as one of the three most impactful and valuable films of the festival. The organizers of the event are the European union in Jordan and the Royal Film Commission Jordan, to whom the Bulgarian Embassy in Jordan expressed its heartiest thanks.
The Ambassador of Bulgaria to Jordan, Metin Kazak, presented the film to the large audience: "The 36th edition of this significant event is very special for Bulgaria, and I am excited to present our film to you, because it is inspired by the bright personality and indisputable talent of one of the most - the good ones and my favorite Bulgarian poet Petya Dubarova. Also, in 2022, a student from the Bulgarian Sunday School here in Jordan, Miriam Shehade, received an award from the prestigious international competition for translating a poem by Petya Dubarova into Arabic, "Transformations", and added that "Petya to my Petya" is a modern story connecting the future with the past, which touches on the themes of education and its role in the lives of adolescents, as well as the need for faithful friends on the way to achieving mutual help and understanding in a better world.
All those present received a short reference with the biography of the poetess and the text of the poem "Summer in Bulgaria" in Bulgarian, Arabic and English.
The representatives of the Bulgarian community in Jordan were fascinated by the film and expressed special thanks to Ambassador Metin Kazak and the representatives of the embassy for the wonderful choice and the invitation.
